A place to call home.

Ah, I have finally come to the realization of why I have been unable to write for the past couple of days -- it's because I have been staying at hostels and living out of my bag. I don't exactly have a space of my own that I can decorate with pictures or hang up cards from my loved ones. Without a safe little haven that I can mark up and call my home, I have been in sort of a funk and can't think correctly.

And all this is from a stop by Erin Murray's apartment. It's so absolutely adorable!!
High ceilings, a tiny (but lived in) kitchen, oddly shaped bathroom with a shower that can probably only barely fit me (which she's going to mention this on her blog, for sure).... all surrounded with so much life of the city.

As a side note, my friend from my churchErin Murray, is doing this amazing program with the school where she is spending five weeks in Rome and five weeks in Calabria, taking Italian 203 and an Italian film class, being an intern, teaching English to children, AND living with a host family during her stay in Calabria. This program was my back up plan just in case I couldn't get into the sociology program. Sometimes, I kind of hoped that I would get rejected from my sociology program because the Italian one sounded so mind blowingly awesome. But alas, sociology is the subject that I am madly in love with so I couldn't possibly stray from my love. Anyway. I digress. Read her blog, I'm sure it's going to be fabulous and certainly refreshing when you get tired of hearing me talk about deviance, the state and its amount of control, the economy, role of religion, power, etc. Yeah.. I can tell this is going to be interesting.

With that in mind, I can't wait until I lug my giant duffel bag across town, maneuver on the cobblestone streets towards Campo de' Fiori, and unload everything onto my bed. (That last sentence was slightly sarcastic. I don't know how that happened.) Most of all, I can't wait until I am settled in tomorrow and be able to share the great adventures that I have been having so far!!

A domani!

  1. I can hardly wait as well!

By the way, my morning routine officially proceeds like so:
    1. Smashing the snooze button for half an hour
    2. Brushing my teeth
    3. Checking your blog while nom noming on breakfast.

Thought you'd like to know. ;)
