Raised Roman Catholic from the cradle, she has fantasized of making a pilgrimage to Rome and the Vatican from the age of seven. Born in California as the youngest daughter of two inexplicably adorable first generation Vietnamese immigrants has also made her the daughter of two cultures; which placed her in a different position in society from the majority of her peers, giving her a unique viewpoint. With dimpled smiles, she has come to the conclusion that among people are many differences, but that does not make one person superior or inferior to another. Not only that, but differences are beneficial in their ability to bring in fresh perspectives and help synthesize new concepts.
She speaks English, Vietnamese, Italian (ma sa parlare un poco l'Italiano), and every so often remembers scraps of Japanese from when she went to Tokyo for a two week student exchange program. As hdao6899, she bought her first bag of crap on woot.com on September 22nd, 2010. To help dissipate stress, she bakes, runs, wears dresses, or learns a new song on the piano. She knows how to ski but prefers to snowboard. She briefly helped teach Sunday school to a second grade class, wore a radio headset for an annual Catholic youth convention for two whole hours, and has assisted in the planning and execution of dances and other social events at the Catholic Newman Center.
Most importantly, she believes that her future holds exponentially more than what she has already seen and done.
My name is Hien Dao and I crave for the sensation of a plane taking off as often as I crave for water.

Hawaii, September 2012
My hair has grown out since I chopped it all off in March of last year. I was a Peer Minister at the Catholic Newman Center at the University of Washington for the 2011/2012 school year. I finally started by baking blog. And I have been in dire need of a vacation where I do not have to worry about a single thing. This trip to Hawaii marks and is the transition between school and starting my full time job in the real world.
It's going to be beautiful and awesome. I feel that I've worked hard enough and deserve to spoil myself. You should still be jealous.

This will be after two and a half months into my big girl job. Hopefully I'll still have it by then.
